2. What data we collect

We only collect the data you send us or that we need in order to reply:

• Contact details: name, email, phone, company and postcode or town.
• Request details: type of project, services required, timeline, project description and any documents you send.
• Browsing data: IP address, device type and pages visited, collected by cookies and measurement tools (see section 7).

This data may reach us through the website form, email, phone, WhatsApp or the lead forms in our Google ads.

3. How we use it

• To answer your request and prepare quotes — steps prior to a contract (GDPR art. 6(1)(b)).
• To carry out the contracted work, invoice and meet tax and accounting obligations — performance of a contract and legal obligation (art. 6(1)(b) and (c)).
• To measure website and advertising performance — consent or legitimate interest, as applicable (art. 6(1)(a) and (f)).

We do not sell your data or use it to send you marketing without your consent.

4. Google ad lead forms

If you fill in a form in an iStarTec ad on Google, the details you provide (for example name, phone, email, postcode and the service you need) are collected by Google and passed to iStarTec so that we can contact you. Google also processes this data under its own privacy policy.

5. Who we share it with

We only share data with service providers we need in order to operate, and only as far as necessary:

• Google (Google Ads, Google Maps, Google Fonts) — advertising, conversion measurement and maps.
• FormSubmit — delivers website form messages to our inbox.
• WhatsApp (Meta) — when you choose to message us on WhatsApp.
• GitHub — website hosting.
• Our certified accountant and public authorities, where the law requires it.

Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. In those cases the transfer relies on European Commission adequacy decisions (such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework) or standard contractual clauses.

6. How long we keep it

• Quote requests that do not go ahead: up to 24 months after the last contact.
• Clients: for the duration of the work and the legal retention period for tax and accounting records (10 years).

7. Cookies and browser storage

The website uses the Google tag (Google Ads) to measure which ads lead to enquiries. These cookies are only set if you accept them in the notice shown on your first visit; if you reject them, Google only receives cookieless, non-identifying signals. You can change your choice at any time in cookie preferences or via the "Cookies" link in the footer. We also store two technical preferences in your browser, with no personal data: whether you are a homeowner or a business, and whether you closed the WhatsApp message.

8. Your rights

You may at any time ask to access, correct or erase your data, restrict its processing, receive it in a portable format, or object to its processing. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it without affecting what was done before. Just write to geral@istartec.co; we reply within one month at the latest.

If you believe your rights have not been respected, you may lodge a complaint with the Portuguese data protection authority, CNPD (www.cnpd.pt).

9. Security

The website runs on HTTPS only, and access to the requests we receive is limited to the people who need them to reply to you.

We may update this policy. The date of the latest update is always shown at the top of this page.
